The temperature went over 20 degrees C this week, at which point I discovered all the things in my wardrobe that aren't really suitable for hot weather. One of my favourite Svaha dresses is too lowcut for me to wear without something underneath, unless I can figure out some kind of insert to the neckline. (Or possibly go to a professional alterations place and get them to do so.)  Another of my staple dresses (from Evans) is beginning to wear out. I have had a spendy month and ordered a bunch more Svaha dresses, which will turn up at some point when shipping and customs get around to it.

Through great effort of which I am very resentful, I am approximately 10kg lighter and 8-10cm smaller round the waist than last summer, which does mean there are some lightweight pocket dresses at the back of my hanging rail that didn't fit last year but do now. And I think I am finding the heat less exhausting, but we'll see what happens when it gets nearer 30 degrees.

The weather also prompted me to actually get my hair cut.  It was getting increasingly shaggy and annoying me; while it was just long enough to tie up off my neck, I really wanted to get it tidier.  The post-chemo curls were also a constant reminder of having had chemo. The more recent growth seemed straighter, but I wasn't sure if it was just being pulled straight by the weight of hair below.  Spoiler: nope, my hair seems to be straight again (photos at Twitter).  I am quietly delighted and enjoying having my hair back again.

(I promptly spoiled the lovely blow-dried effect by letting C persuade me to go swimming yesterday afternoon, but my hair seems to still be straight.  Woohoo.)

If you have/can easily get, a piece of good quality black embroidered lace, that could be a stylish (and easy) insert for the Svaha dress.

If there isn't a convenient fabric/sewing/craft store nearby, you might find something in a consignment/charity/thrift shop (I don't know what they're called in your area, but I assume they exist!)

Excellent! I love thrift shops, there's such a wide range of choice, independent of current fashions.

That's a wonderful dress and a great place to shop! I am in non-buying mode right for the foreseeable future so I can't buy anything there, but I've bookmarked the website for future shopping.

With a too-low neckline when it's too hot to wear a tank top underneath, I will sometimes tie a solid-color scarf around my neck and then tuck it into the neckline and secure it with small safety pins.

Your hair does look lovely.

For totally different reasons, I am going through a process of working out which of my old clothes still work and which don't, too. I send sympathy!

I don't know what size you are, but I have a whole wardrobe which no longer fits (I've lost almost half of me) and is no longer my style (I stick to androgynous stuff these days). Mainly Per Una type vest with lacy / thin overshirt. Mostly purple / brown / blue / green / black (no red, pink, yellow etc). Good for summer.

I literally have a rail full which I've been meaning to eBay for two years. Mostly 16-20 but a few tops either side. And also a few larger trousers.

If that's of any interest please get in touch! Text message is best followed by Facebook message as I very rarely check email. Very happy to send stuff your way, if it helps.
